Well, it’s almost been 4 months since we secretly said ‘I do!’ – time flies when you’re having fun! I wanted to make a blog post on our own wedding because I loved all the vendors that were involved and wanted to give them credit in a way that would let other people know!
Before I get into that, I’ll start off with our story. Back in February, we decided we wanted to get married (this was pre-covid). We both agreed that we wanted an elopement style wedding, but with our immediate families present. We thought the best way to pull this off, would be to keep it secret from everyone else (lol). A month later, Covid hit. Besides a last minute venue change, we didn’t have to change much. We made sure to hire bartenders to serve drinks & food safely (Marie and Duncan, you are the real MVPS), had pretty gold sanitizer bottles everywhereeeee, and of course made sure all the guests were healthy. Covid may suck, but you can still have the wedding of your dreams!!!
The most important thing to us, was to have a laid back day, where we could focus on our love, while celebrating with our families. We did things ‘untraditionally’. We spent the morning of our wedding together, we drove to the ceremony together, followed by walking barefoot down a mountain with a bottle of champagne in hand. We had amazing pizza for dinner (I will link the pizzeria below!), icecream for dessert, followed by an open mic style speech hour and of course dancing. If I could relive this day, I would a million times! And PSA: its 2020, do your day how YOU want to!
I want to give a huge shout out to our families for all their help – our mama Kim for marrying us!! Our billet bro, Coop, for playing the guitar beautifully for us to walk down the aisle to, sister Jaymie for the perfect venue, sister Kerry for planting us succulents for our guest favours, painting our bar menu mirror, making my garter (and so much more), sister Katharina for our amazing cake, Marie and Duncan for being the best bartenders around, Brooke for being the bestest MC, Erica for making us our custom wooden ‘guestbook’, and another big shout out to every other person who attended – thank you for all your love, support, and help – everybody made our day so special!

We started off the afternoon with a few photos together, and then hopped in the car for the rainy drive to our ceremony!
Cooper played the guitar for us to walk down the aisle to and Mark’s Mom married us, which made this moment 1000x more special! When we said ‘I do!’ the rain stopped and the sun started to shine. A moment I’ll never forget! We followed the ceremony up with a champagne toast and family portraits!
We went to Goats Peak Regional Park in West Kelowna for our photos after the ceremony! It was a beautiful backdrop! After photos, it was time to make our entrance into the reception. Greeted by hugs, shots and love – it was a perfect celebration!
We knew right off the bat that we wanted pizza for dinner. We found Pizzamoreh in West Kelowna, and knew they would be the perfect fit for us! If you’re ever over there – check them out!
Next up were speeches, first dances, the cake cutting and party time! Check out the rest of our day below!
A few more detailed shots below! All wooden signs were made by me (get crafty brides!), wooden guestbook sign by Erica, succulents planted by Kerry (a favour that can be kept forever), and of course the beautiful cake made by Kat!
